The past 24-36 hours have been full of news of the tragedy that occurred at Sandy Hook Elementary. With that sad news has come a lot of heavy hearts, tears, confusion and “what now”s. How will we all find our smile, our laughter again?
There are lots of blogs out there discussing this tragedy and how it is impacting everyone. I will not revisit this pain with you. With today’s coverage you can turn on any tv, radio, internet, newspaper and get plenty of it. But not from me.
I want to take a moment to discuss how we each need to find our smile again. To find a way to laugh, to smile. More importantly, how to show our kids that there will be laughter and smiles again.
Our hearts begin to heal through letting in small amounts of laughter. Laughing or smiling does not mean we will not remember nor have we forgotten. It means we are refusing to let that monster take away the memory of those children and adults laughter. He can never take away the smiles they brought people.
Please honor these kids lives. Teach our kids and the kid inside ourselves how to laugh again.
Maybe commit to telling your favorite kid joke tomorrow in their honor.
It all starts with small steps.

~~~till we laugh again~~~
Very well said. I think of the funny things my children and their friends when they were 6 and 7. And it lifts my heart even if just a little.
That is perfect. I know hearing some of the things the news has shared that some of the kids have said have made me smile. Especially the one that wanted to go out and help since he knew karate.
laughter is so healing
The best medicine ever!
truly is!
Laughter is an essential part of life and should not be overlooked at times like these. Love the sentiment in your post, Tammy.
Thank you. Laughter truly is the key to getting through the toughest of times.
Sniff…
I did a post on the shooting and mourn everyone. But as is said, life goe’s on and people will get back to normal very quickly, then the laughter starts again.
I agree… Plus each heals in their own time but hopefully a little happiness creeps in each day
Great point, Tammy! Thanks for the reminder. We needed it! xoM
