Congratulations on your 100,000 page hits, Tammy! Yesterday I did something stupid (Tammy’s anticipation heightens). While my VISITOR count was remaining static at around 25, the search-engine hits on an IMAGE from one of my two-year-old posts was growing exponentially–from 500, then 800, then 1000: http://thedailygraff.com/2011/03/31/when-supplies-run-low-though/ (Usually I get 4-5 hits a week on the tag term “fruit display.”) When the hits reached 1,200 I feared that a hacker was using my blog for some nefarious purpose, and I made that post temporarily “Private,” which stopped the hits. When I contacted WordPress support about the anomaly, they said that the hits were coming from a search-engine image search and congratulated me that my image was in the #2 spot in results when people searched on that term. They suspected that some culinary program had recommended my image. Now I will never know how many additional hits I would have gotten (the hits didn’t resume when I made the post “Public” again). The runaway hits might have pushed MY all-time hit total to over 25,000. –John
